JOEY POLE PICKS UP HIS SECOND WIN OF 2010 AT THE WATERFORD SPEEDBOWL AUGUST 21, 2010
WATERFORD- Young ACT Sensation Joey "Pole" Polewarczyk knew something was special in the air on Saturday Night, as the ACT Late Models rolled into town for the first of two events to be held at the Connecticut historic racing oval. Pole would have 4 great practice sessions in which afterward he remarked that he might have "something" for them down here.
Pole started the night off well by capturing his heat race. "The car is on rails and the outside lane is where it's at" stated Pole after the race.
Pole would start 3rd in the ACT Nutmeg 100 event and would never fall out of the top 3 all race long. #15CT Jeff Smith would bring the field down to the green flag with #55VT Brent Dragon running on the outside pole position. Joey would stay in the 3rd spot as they started to pull away from the rest of the field and the top 3 were into lap traffic by lap 18. Steady on the throttle and smooth through the corners gave Pole the opportunity to stay right with the leaders, who themselves were battling for the top spot until lap 30, when Dragon got by Jeff Smith and Pole followed suit and then the ACT defending champion #37VT Brian Hoar worked his way up to 4th position right behind Smith. It would only take a few laps and Hoar cleared Smith and then it was Pole, Dragon and Hoar the rest of the way.
Pole and Dragon were jockeying for the top spot and that allowed Hoar to close in to within 1 car length and Dragon got loose coming of from turn 2 and that allowed Hoar to grab the second spot and then try to track down the leader Joey Pole. There were a couple caution in the middle stages of the race which allowed Hoar to be on the outside of Pole during the restarts but Pole could make his car stick in the low or high groove and he would assume a 5 car length lead over Hoar.
Lap 95 the caution waves which would set up, essentially a 5 lap shootout for the Nutmeg 100 Victory. Pole on the inside and Hoar on the outside and Pole gets off to a quick 5 or 6 car length lead right off the restart but Hoar was climbing back to within 2 car lengths on the final lap but it would not be enough as Joey Pole would carry the checkers for the second time this year and the 6th time in his young ACT Late Model Career.

Joey Polewarczyk Jr. of Hudson, N.H., continued his midsummer surge on Saturday, July 31, returning
to Seekonk Speedway and winning a 75-lap Late Model main event at the track. The victory was
Polewarczyk's second in a span of eight days after claiming his first ACT Late Model Tour win of the
season a week ago at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway. Ironically, the car Polewarczyk drove to victory
at Seekonk has plenty of history. Not only was it the car that carried Polewarczyk to his first career
ACT victory at Seekonk in August 2007, but it's also the car that two-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series
champion Tony Stewart drove in the VT Governor's Cup 150 at Thunder Road International
Speedbowl in June 2009 -- and the same car that Polewarczyk set the Late Model qualifying record
with at Thunder Road in 2006. He survived a three-wide battle on the race's final restart with under 20
laps remaining to post the victory.
